We look forward to meeting you and want to do everything possible to make your first visit pleasant and beneficial. A healthy, confident smile is important to your health and well-being.
Save time by filling out your new patient forms now. Go to the DOWNLOAD link at the bottom of the page and choose New Patient forms.
When you first arrive and meet our staff, you'll fill out New Patient forms. These help our team get to know you and understand your oral health needs. It's a good idea to arrive a few minutes early, if you haven’t already downloaded and filled out your New Patient forms.
We begin with a series of digital x-rays to get a detailed look at your entire mouth. Digital x-rays provide less radiation than conventional x-rays and help us provide a comprehensive exam.
X-rays are also essential for denture wearers. Your dentist can determine if you have adequate bone to support your dentures, plus check for bone fractures, cysts, tumors, lesions and sinus issues.
After reviewing your x-rays, your dentist will discuss your dental and medical history and the reason for your visit. The dentist will then perform a thorough oral exam and suggest a comprehensive treatment plan that will help you improve and maintain good oral health. This long-term plan is important, because seeing the full picture helps you make the best decisions about your care.
You'll hear the term "comprehensive care" often at My Dentist. It means that the dentists do more than just fix your immediate problem. They examine your entire mouth, recommend treatment options for long-lasting oral health and work with you to choose the treatment options that suit you best.
Tip: Research shows a link between dental health and overall health. ADA
Our goal is to provide you with comprehensive oral care - that means taking care of immediate problems and preventing small issues from getting bigger and more complex. If left untreated, some conditions may have serious consequences for your overall health. For example, gum disease has been linked with heart disease, stroke and diabetes.
After the dentist completes your exam, our treatment coordinator will meet with you to answer questions about your treatment, maximize any dental insurance benefits you may have, discuss payment options and work with you to create the best treatment plan for your needs.
New patients often ask if they can have their teeth cleaned during their first visit. Your first visit is usually diagnostic and actual treatment begins with a follow-up visit, often scheduled as soon as the next day. We need to see you first for a comprehensive exam and then schedule adequate time with your hygienist for a thorough cleaning.
After your first visit, you'll take our complete treatment plan with you, along with the cost of your treatment and the date for your follow-up appointment. If you have any questions during your visit, or if there is anything you don't understand, members of the My Dentist team are happy to help.
Your dentist and the rest of the My Dentist team look forward to seeing you smile.
