Dentures are a removable set of teeth, which allow patients to function normally while also providing support to surrounding tissues. There are two different types of dentures available, depending on a patient’s needs.
Full Dentures
Full dentures may be ideal for patients who have lost most or all their upper or lower teeth, due to a serious disease or injury. A full set of dentures can restore both functionality and self-confidence, allowing patients to eat, speak and smile with ease. In cases where no original teeth remain, dental implants may be needed to hold the dentures in place.
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures are available to patients who have lost some teeth, but still have a few teeth remaining. These remaining teeth can help to anchor the dentures in place, increasing the strength and stability of the denture. Partials not only serve an aesthetic purpose, but also allow patients to speak and chew with comfort, while providing support to surrounding teeth and minimizing periodontal problems by maintaining proper occlusion.
